Our Story

For more than 120 years, Monahans has supported businesses, individuals and families across the South West. While the business landscape has changed considerably over that time, we’ve continued to grow by developing long-standing relationships and providing specialist advice across a wide range of services.

Today, Monahans is one of the South West’s leading independent accountancy and business advisory firms, with 11 offices across the region. Our team includes specialists in audit, accounts, tax, corporate finance, payroll, HR, probate, outsourced finance and business advisory, working with businesses of all sizes, charities, academies, healthcare providers, landed estates and private clients.

In 2023, Monahans became part of the Sumer Group, giving our clients access to additional technical expertise and specialist services across the UK and Ireland, while continuing to work with the same local teams they know. Clients have a single point of contact, supported by specialists from across Monahans and the wider group whenever additional expertise is needed.

Many of our clients use more than one of our services. Having specialists across multiple disciplines means we can bring together different areas of expertise, whether that’s tax, corporate finance, HR, probate or business advisory, providing coordinated advice without clients needing to manage multiple advisers.

Our expertise also extends internationally through our membership of GGI Global Alliance, one of the world’s leading international alliances of independent accounting, law and consulting firms. Through GGI, we can support clients with international tax, accounting and business matters in more than 125 countries, while remaining your local point of contact.

Whether you’re starting a business, growing an established company, planning for succession or looking for personal tax advice, you’ll work with people who understand your circumstances and have access to the expertise needed as those circumstances change.
